A pair of southeast Iowa high school football teams will play this week for a trip to the UNI-Dome and the state semifinals, after earning second-round wins Monday night.  Two other area teams, however, saw solid seasons come to an end.

In Class 2A, #3 Albia stayed unbeaten with a 26-16 win over Mid-Prairie.  The 11-0 Blue Demons get to stay at home for Friday’s quarterfinals, but advancing to the semis will not be easy.  Their opponent will be #7 Mediapolis, also unbeaten at 11-0.

In Class A, #7 Pekin made the quarterfinals the hard way, going on the road to upend #8 Lisbon 27-6.  To make the semifinals, the Panthers will have to overcome #2 B-G-M, a team they lost to on the final day of the regular season.  B-G-M enters Friday’s game in Brooklyn with an 11-0 mark.

In Class 3A, Oskaloosa‘s year ended with a 7-4 mark after a 42-7 loss at Washington.  In 8-man football, Twin Cedars wound up at 10-2 after a 73-38 loss at Adair-Casey.
