Sometimes, the rumor turns out to be true. City of Ottumwa Deer Season Ends

(Ottumwa) – The City of Ottumwa’s eighth deer season for bow hunters began on September 14, 2013 and recently concluded on January 19, 2014. During the season, thirty seven (37) hunters registered with the police department to participate in the program. During the four month season, forty-one (41) does, one (1) button buck, and one (1) buck were harvested bringing the total harvest number to forty-three (43). Former Iowa State Professor Pleads Guilty to False Statements

(DES MOINES) – United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt announced that Dr. Palaniappa Molian, of Ames, pled guilty on January 24, 2014, to two felony counts relating to false statements made to the National Science Foundation. According to the written plea agreement, in December of 2009, Dr. Molian, as a principal investigator on a National Science Foundation grant to Iowa State University, submitted a reimbursement expense voucher that contained false statements. Family loses home in fire

(Ottumwa)— An early morning fire caused considerable damage to a house located south of Ottumwa off of highway 63. The fire was reported to the Wapello County Rural Fire Department shortly after 6:30 Monday morning on Little Soap Road.  When firemen arrived on the scene flames and smoke could be seen coming from the house. Death Investigation in Oskaloosa

(Oskaloosa) – The Oskaloosa Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are working a death investigation regarding an 18 month old girl in Oskaloosa, Iowa. On Friday, January 24, 2014, at approximately 2:11p.m., the Oskaloosa Police Department received a 911 call from Apartment 224 at the Southern Hills Apartment Complex located at 18th Avenue East in Oskaloosa.  Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the 18 month old girl deceased. Centerville armory closes as Iowa National Guard consolidation continues

(Radio Iowa) – The Iowa National Guard armory in Centerville in south-central Iowa’s Appanoose County ended its tour of duty on Friday.
