Crash injures two people

(Lee County) – Two people were injured Monday afternoon following a two vehicle crash north of Iowa highway 16 on highway 218. The Iowa State Patrol says a semi driven by 63 year old Daniel E. Schneider of Lisbon, Iowa was southbound and following another semi.  As the semi driven by Schneider switched lanes, he failed to see a farm tractor traveling southbound in the right hand lane. Fatal weekend crash

(Mediapolis)— A 51 year old southeast Iowa man was killed early Saturday morning following a single vehicle crash on highway 61 at the intersection of Memorial Park Road. The Des Moines Sheriff’s Department says the car was driven by 46 year old Dan Allen Miller of Mediapolis.  Killed in crash was Michael Butler of Mediapolis.  Injured was Miller who was transported to University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.  He is reported in critical condition. The crash remains under investigation.

(Ottumwa)— The Ottumwa Police Department’s animal control officer Jeff Williams is asking for the public’s help in determining how a family dog was shot and killed. In today’s edition of the Ottumwa Courier, it’s reported the Randy Davis family adopted a chocolate lab dog from the Heartland Humane society in Ottumwa. Hung Jury in Pilcher Trial

(Ottumwa)— After 5 days of deliberations a Wapello County District court jury declared it could not reach a unanimous verdict in the murder trial of 67 year old Robert Gene Pilcher. On January 22, 2014, a search warrant was executed by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 308 South14th Street in Fairfield, Iowa.
