Another trip to the state tournament just wasn’t in the cards in 2013 for the rebuilding Davis County baseball team.  The Mustangs’ season came to an end Saturday night as they lost to Albia 6-1 in the first round of the Class 2A district playoffs.

The Mustangs were mostly done in by the Blue Demons’ four-run outburst in the second inning.  Albia later tacked on a couple of insurance runs, and while Davis County did push across a run in the sixth inning, it proved to not be enough to keep their season.

Albia advances to face Prairie City-Monroe in the district semifinals.  Davis County ends the season at 14-19.
