(Ottumwa) – There are indications the El Rancho Grande building at the intersection of Jefferson and Main street is about to come down soon.

City Information Officer Tom Rogers say a demolition contractors is working with utility companies to have service cut and removed from the site.

At the same time, Rogers says the Ottumwa/Wapello landfill has been contacted to make the necessary arrangements to receive debris from the site and a local trucking firm has been contacted for removal of the debris.

It is estimated the demolition work is expected to take ten working days to complete.  At this point a start date has not been established, but it is hoped the project will be completed the third or fourth week in January.

The popular restaurant was destroyed by fire in April.
