(Ottumwa)— Looking for a new and different way to purchase your groceries and save money at the same time? If you are, you might want to consider the food Share program in Ottumwa.
The Food Share program is similar to a food co-op and is open to everyone, not just people on a low or fixed income. The Share program has been around for a long time and residents can sign up for the program at the Ottumwa Housing Authority office located at 935 West Main Street. The only requirement to utilize the program is you do a good deed for your neighbor.
Once you have signed up for the Share program different food packages are available to choose from and the good thing is that you can stretch your grocery dollars and save up to 50-percent with the food packages. Officials also point out, the food share program is not new to Ottumwa and has been in existence for the past 20 years. Previously the program was carried out by the Ottumwa Housing Authority and RSVP. Now the program is administered by the Ottumwa Housing Authority.
