The starting point guard on Indian Hills Community College’s 2012 national tournament basketball team is coming back to IHCC. Roderick Bobbitt sat out last year after averaging 9.4 points a game and helping lead the 2011-12 Warrior squad that finished seventh at the national tourney.
Bobbitt, from Oakland, California, played in 36 games, starting 25, as a freshman. He led the team in free throws made and attempted and also topped the Warriors in assists and steals, averaging 6.0 and 3.0, respectively.
For IHCC coach Barret Peery, it’s no secret what he expects from Bobbitt. “Rod must be a great leader and a guy we can count on to be strong when things are tough,” Peery says. “As a freshman he was part of a 33-win season and a trip to Hutch for us, so he obviously knows what our goals at Indian Hills are all about.”
A couple of other recruits who were announced previously, Lester Medford and Marcus Posley, also have experience playing the point and the addition of Bobbitt will further help bolster that key position for the Warriors.
