OTTUMWA — Two milestones were recognized at the annual Indian Hills Community College staff workshop to begin the new academic year.

Since the Indian Hills Foundation began in 1975, more than $13.6 million in scholarships has been awarded to 16,734 students attending Indian Hills.  Brad Woolard, president of the Indian Hills Foundation, presented a plaque recognizing this milestone to the officers of the Indian Hills Student Senate—Phillip Brown of Bloomfield and Derrick Muntz of Memphis, Missouri.  Brown is a student in the bioprocess technology program and Muntz is enrolled in the physical therapy assistant program.

Last year, for the eighth consecutive year, 100% of the full-time and many part-time staff members at Indian Hills contributed to the annual employee giving campaign generating $60,000 for scholarships for students attending Indian Hills for the 2013-14 school year.  Approximately $35,000 of the $60,000 will be used for designated scholarships set up by staff members and the remainder will provide individual scholarships in the amount of $600.
