(Ottumwa)—A well known Ottumwa resident, Tom Lazio, informed Ottumwa Radio News today he will formally announce his candidacy for Mayor Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m. on the steps of City Hall.

Lazio is no stranger to public office in the city of bridges. He has been active in the community and help start the Open Line Counseling Service in the 1970’s, Crisis Center and Women’s shelter, River Hills Community Health Center and was a member of the St. Joseph Hospital Board serving as board president from 1980 to 1982. He served on the Ottumwa Board of Education from 1984 to 1997 and was Board President from 1995 to 1997.

Lazio was a charter member of the Ottumwa Legacy Foundation and was elected as the chairman in 2010.

Again Lazio will officially announce his candidacy for Mayor of Ottumwa Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m. at City Hall.
