Viola Maxine Osing Thomas, 88, formerly of Milton died at 9:00 A.M. Thursday Dec. 19, 2013 at Parkview Care Center, Fairfield where she had resided since Feb., 2011. She was born Oct. 18, 1925 near Cantril to August H. and Rose Marie Pflanz Osing. She married Carl Davidson and they divorced. She married Cleo Thomas Aug. 21, 1975. He died Aug. 21, 2004. Maxine lived most of her life in Ottumwa and Milton. She was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed playing cards, sewing, quilting and playing with her grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Joyce Carey (Cecil) of Fairfield and Teresa Broseh (Earl) of Terrell, TX, two stepsons, Steve Thomas (Brenda) of Milton and Dean Thomas (Debbie) of Parksville, TN, a stepdaughter, Nancy Jean Schweiger of Green Valley, AZ, 7 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren, a brother, Charles Osing of Ottumwa, a sister, Madeline Craff of Dubuque, a brother-in-law, Richard Thomas of Mt. Vernon and 3 nephews.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be at 2 P.M. Monday Dec. 23, 2013 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Visitation with family present will be 1-2 P.M. prior to the service. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Milton. Memorials to Hospice Compassus may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 1367 East Alamosa Drive, Terrell, TX 75160.
