(Albia)—- An Albia woman escaped serious injuries following a crash Tuesday afternoon in Monroe County.

The Iowa State Patrol says 23 year old Madison P. McDonough  was eastbound on highway 34 just west of Monroe County Road T-61, when she apparently fell asleep as she crossed the center line and onto the westbound shoulder.  She then took evasive action attempting to get her vehicle back onto the highway.

Troopers say her minivan began to spin counter clockwise as it entered a north side ditch.  The van then rolled once before coming to rest on the passenger side.  McDonough admitted to taking prescription medication.  She signed a form consenting to provide requested urine specimens for testing.  Troopers say possible OWI charges are pending the DCI lab testing.
