The 2013 state high school track meet takes place Thursday through Saturday in Des Moines, and the Ottumwa High girls’ track and field team is sending the following competitors:

Sophomore Hope Bitner will compete in the high jump.  Bitner was the champion high jumper at both the Metro Conference meet and Ottumwa’s regional meet.

Junior Sarah Schulz will compete in the long jump.  Schulz won the long jump competition at Ottumwa’s regional meet.  She will also compete in the 4×200 relay.

Freshman Erin Sheehy will run in the 200-meter dash, after qualifying in the regionals, and will also compete in the 4×200 relay.

Senior Sydney Strunk will run in the 400-meter dash, after qualifying in the regionals, and will also compete in the 4×400 relay.

Ottumwa’s 4×200 relay team, consisting of Schulz, Sheehy, Ellie Hammack and Sarah Thordarson, will run in the state meet after winning the regional championship.

Ottumwa’s 4×400 relay team, consisting of Strunk, Hammack, Charlette Flanders and Ashlyn Thompson, will run in the state meet after winning the Metro Conference championship and qualifying in the regionals.
