(Ottumwa)— Ottumwa and Fairfield have been selected to host the Iowa Tourism Conference in two years. Mark Eckman director of the Ottumwa Area Convention and Visitor’s Bureau says Ottumwa and Fairfield beat out Des Moines in hosting the annual event.
Eckman says he was notified by the Iowa Tourism Office Monday that a selection committee chose the two communities after a May 15th site visit.
The site selection committee cited the bid’s creativity and the communities enthusiasm as reasons why they selected Ottumwa and Fairfield. Ottumwa will provide the meeting space and hotel accommodations, while Fairfield will host the dine around function.
The state tourism conference will be held October 21st through the 23rd, 2015 with almost 300 tourism professionals and volunteers attending from throughout Iowa.
