(Ottumwa)— Let the campaigning begin.  The stage is now set for the November 5th general election in Ottumwa and Eldon.

During Tuesday’s primary election in Ottumwa and Eldon voters decided whose names will appear on the November ballot.

With all of the precincts reporting in Skip Stevens, Bob Meyers, Keith Caviness, Matt Dalbey, Belinda Smith Cicarella  and Robert LaPoint were the top voter getters.  Stevens received 1232 votes, Bob Meyers received 924 votes, Matt Dalbey picked up 762 votes, Keith Caviness picked up 647 votes, Belinda Smith Cicarella  received 618 votes, and Robert LaPoint with 366 votes.

In Eldon in the mayoral race incumbent mayor Shirley Stacey and Jean Coulter will face off in the November election.  Coulter received 118 votes, while Stacey received 73 votes.

A total of 1970 voters in Ottumwa and Eldon turned out for Tuesday’s  primary.  That only 12-percent of the eligible voters  registered to vote.  There were also 391 absentee ballots cast in Tuesday’s primary.

The November general election is Tuesday November 5th.
