(Ottumwa)— You may want to keep a close eye on the weather the latter part of the weekend. The National Weather Service in Des Moines says our first real out break of severe weather is possible Sunday and Monday. Today and Saturday will be mostly sunny and warm ahead of a system that will impact the state Sunday and Monday.
Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to develop Sunday afternoon into Monday. Large hail, damaging winds and even a few tornadoes will be possible with this activity.
This comes on the heels of the state setting a record Wednesday of 356 straight days without a tornado.
