(Fairfield)— A 44 year old Fairfield man Donald D. Gridley has been charged with vehicular homicide as the result of an accident that killed his father.

On December 11th the Wapello County sheriff’s Department asked for help from the Iowa State Patrol following a fatality crash on Competine Road in Wapello County.  Shortly before 3:30 that day a pickup truck was heading north on the Competine Road when it drove through a stop sign and ended up in a ditch.

Upon their arrival, officers found Gridley’s father 65 year old Patrick C. Gridley of Fairfield on the floor board of the truck.  During the investigation officers obtain a urine sample from Donald Gridley.  Tests show that Donald Gridley had a blood alcohol contest of 0.198 more than two times the legal limit.

Gridley was arrested on the charge Tuesday.  In court he pleaded not guilty and was released on bond.  A preliminary hearing is set for July 22nd.
