(Oskaloosa)— Two people were injured following a car-tractor accident Tuesday evening on highway 163 and North Shore Drive in Mahaska County.

The Iowa State Patrol says a car driven by 17 year old Steven James Thompson of Knoxville was westbound on highway 163 when Thompson collided into the rear of a slow moving John Deere Tractor that was pulling a planter.

Injuried in the crash were Thompson and a passenger 18 year old Derek Levi Springer of Bussey, Iowa. Thompson was airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, while Springer was airlifted to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
