A combination of Friday freezing rain and an impending Saturday winter storm forced several high school basketball cancellations as area schools headed into spring break.

For the Van Buren girls and boys basketball teams, the weather has forced postponements on consecutive days.  Saturday night’s games against Scotland County (MO) have been postponed, and a make-up date has yet to be announced.  Friday night’s games against Cardinal were postponed until Saturday, January 11th.  Cardinal also lost games on back-to-back nights, as its games on Thursday at Pekin were postponed.  No make-up date has been announced to this point.

The Davis County basketball teams lost their Friday night games against Chariton to the weather as well.  Make-ups for those games will be announced at a later date.

Area schools that choose to postpone games because of bad weather are encouraged to contact Ottumwa Radio as soon as the decision is made, so we may promptly report it.
