(Oskaloosa)— Three people from southeast Iowa were injured Wednesday evening on Iowa highway 23 at the intersection of highway 92.

The Iowa State Patrol says a car driven by 87 year old Robert E. Allender of Oskaloosa was westbound in the lift lane of highway 92 approaching the intersection of highway 23.  At the same time a Semi driven by 19 year old Nicholas R. Greene of Tracy, Iowa was eastbound in the right lane of highway 92 when Allender attempted to make a left hand turn onto highway 23.  The driver of the semi attempted to brake to avoid the Allendar car….however the semi struck the front of the Allendar car.

Injured in the crash was Allender, Nicholas Green and Zachary Green.  Allendar was airlifted to Mercy Medical Center inDes Moines, while Nicholas Greene and Zachary Greene were taken by private vehicle to the Pella Regional Health Center.

The accident remains under investigation.
