Disaster Proclamation Issued for Van Buren County

A June 20th storm in Van Buren County prompted Governor Kim Reynolds to issue a disaster proclamation on Monday.

According to the governor’s office, the proclamation allows state resources to be utilized to respond to and recover from severe weather.

Additionally, the disaster proclamation activates the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program which provides up to $5000 for households with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level or less than $43,400 for a family of three. Grants can be used for home or car repairs, replacement of clothing or food, or temporary housing expenses. The grant application and instructions are available on the Iowa Department of Human Services website. Those wishing to apply must do so within 45 days after the proclamation is issued.

Disaster Care Management is also available. The program addresses serious needs to overcome a disaster-related hardship, injury, or adverse condition.
